There is no doubt that there is lots to do in the Cayman Islands, particularly over the Christmas and New Year’s season. From charity dinners to tree lightings, carol singing and live bands, you’ll find your schedule as full as Jolly Old Saint Nick’s if you try to attend it all.
The great thing to remember is that a great number of events are inexpensive or free, so you can go out and enjoy them without having to spend a fortune.
For example, Camana Bay has a wealth of special Christmas performances and presentations over December, including the tree lighting, singing, dancing, and seasonal movies being shown in Gardenia Court.
Why not take your children along to sit and watch together, or walk around with friends to see all the decorations?
With the cool breezes wafting in from the North Sound, it will feel like winter is on its way. It’s a great way to get into the spirit.
There will be numerous services at local churches as 25 December approaches, and for many that’s what Christmas is all about – going to church, celebrating and giving to others. The services are free, but donations are of course appreciated.
Take a walk down the beach in the evening and see the lights of the various hotels and condominiums as they twinkle under the stars. Come New Year’s Eve, you can find a favourite spot on the sand, and watch as the night lights up with fireworks. From the Ritz to Camana Bay, there is bound to be a great show for all to see.
No matter how you celebrate this year, just make sure that if you’re going out and imbibing that you get a taxi home. You don’t want to spend the season in the slammer.
