Christmas is the season to be merry, but it is also a time to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. For them, Christmas can be a tough time of year, but it is in our power to make things easier if we care enough to give.
Now in its fourth year, the Camana Bay Christmas Give will kick off on Saturday, Nov. 22 in conjunction with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. The Give continues to inspire community spirit, providing convenient opportunities for Camana Bay visitors to support a number of local charities whose efforts ensure that every family in the Cayman Islands has a wonderful Christmas.
This year’s Christmas Give will aid the initiatives of many hardworking organizations and introduces a special partnership with Acts of Random Kindness (ARK). Camana Bay has worked closely with ARK for their Giving Is Receiving campaign, which has been a part of the Camana Bay Christmas Give since its inception. Opportunities to align and integrate efforts with ARK will ensure that this year’s program benefits more local charities throughout the holiday season and beyond.
It’s easy to make giving back part of Christmas traditions with so many ways to get involved:
ARK shopping bags
Pick up a Cayman’s ARK shopping bag from The Discovery Centre and bring it back full of non-perishable goodies for a family’s Christmas meals. Cayman’s ARK provides food and gifts for hundreds of struggling families through the Giving Is Receiving project. They have a record 3,000 bags to fill this year.
Camana Bay Wish Tree
Select an ornament from the Camana Bay Wish Tree and restore a child’s faith in Santa Claus by purchasing a gift. ARK works closely with programmes and organisations focused on vulnerable children and families making it easier to ensure no child is forgotten during the holidays. Visit The Discovery Centre to select your ornament off the Wish Tree and help make a child’s Christmas magical.
Send your Santa Letter to the North Pole with a special $1 stamp from Mail Boxes Etc. to benefit Feed Our Future. Feed Our Future delivers nutritionally balanced meals to children in need in public and private schools throughout our islands.
You can also purchase a Santa Photos package and Picture This will donate $1 on your behalf to the Camana Bay Christmas Give donation funds.
Observation Tower and Santa Claus
Visit The Observation Tower and have a coin race using the coin cascade feature or use the large slot to donate cash and food vouchers. You can also take a photo with traditional or Caribbean Santa Claus with the opportunity to give back. Donations raised by both of these initiatives will be matched by Camana Bay and ARK will use the donations raised for food vouchers and deliver them around the island, as well as divide the donations to local charities.
NEW: Have your pet take a photo with Santa at Santa Paws and ensure all animals aren’t forgotten this holiday season. For every photo package purchased through Picture This, a donation will be made to the Cayman Islands Humane Society and this will be matched by Camana Bay.
