What’s Hot this Month

The Top Ten Things we love this month

Ristorante Prima

The upstairs portion of Royal Palms’ beach bar has been transformed into a charming air-conditioned oasis, with great food and incredible views of the beach and sea. Ristorante Prima is the new hotspot for watching the sunset, and enjoying delectable cuisine, courtesy of Chef Patrizio Roncato. Chef Roncato has previously worked in the three Michelin star “George V” in Paris, as well as Michelin-rated restaurants in Hong Kong. It’s a wonderful spot for a romantic night out, or to book for private functions.  royalpalmscayman.com

Cayman Vapor Company

Do you vape? Vaping has become hugely popular throughout the world, with vaping lounges popping up everywhere. Now there is one in the Cayman Islands! The Cayman Vapor Company, located in Galleria Plaza, has a full selection of retail products including e-cigarettes and many different flavored juices. You can also try before you buy in case you’re not sure what will appeal to your palate.

Once you’ve purchased, stop by to socialize in the lounge and vape, baby, vape.  caymanvaporcompany.com

Vélo Café

“Coffee to go” takes on a whole new meaning when people spy the Vélo Café in Cayman – a completely mobile coffee emporium, powered by bicycle. Martin Richter brings illy coffee to your office or private party, and can provide everything from your classic cuppa to cappuccinos and espressos. You can even take it one step further and supply the booze so he can whip up some fantastic coffee for your martinis. There’s also space for a dessert tray. So the next time you want to offer your guests an after-dinner coffee, why not book Vélo Café to make it really memorable?

Cotterell

It’s hard to keep up with artist and entrepreneur Cotterell as he makes waves in the music and fashion industry. He has recently released his “Poinciana” album, along with the music video for the “Island Girl” track, and is also one of the creative minds behind the YNC brand of clothing.

Already collaborating with international movers and shakers, Cotterell (as the artist simply calls himself) is clearly on his way up. Keep an eye (and ear) on this one.

Mangos!

It’s mango season, and this one is an absolute doozy! The crops have been fantastic, and so the mangos are juicy, delicious and bountiful.

Use them in your favorite cocktail, to make smoothies, or just remove the skin and eat them as Mother Nature intended.

You’ll find them at your local supermarket, or at farmers’ markets around the island, but act now before they’re all gone. Mangos + summer = sweet perfection.

Regal Camana Bay

July is typically a huge month for summer movies, and this one is no exception. It is very likely that anticipated films such as Terminator: Genisys, Magic Mike XXL, Minions, Trainwreck (with the FABULOUS Amy Schumer), Ant-Man, Pixels and Vacation (National Lampoon fans, prepare) will be showing at the Regal Camana Bay, so you’d better start working out your schedule from now.

Remember that any showings before 6 p.m. are matinee priced, and you can skip the line by buying your tickets online.

Red Sail Sports’ Summer Savings

A visit from family and friends can be fantastic, but it can also get pretty expensive. Many businesses offer local rates, but few extend those discounts to visitors. Luckily Red Sail Sports not only offers 50 percent off for all residents AND their visiting friends and family this summer in a special promotion, but the company also has a fantastic range of watersports and activities on the menu. It doesn’t matter whether you’re on Seven Mile Beach, or staying in North Side or East End, there is always a Red Sail shop nearby.

Cayman Airways upgrades

When you take a flight on Cayman Airways to exotic locales, consider treating yourself to an upgrade to Business Class when checking in. It starts at US$50 one-way to Jamaica; US$75 to Miami, and so on, depending on the length of flight. The nice thing is that the rate doesn’t change, no matter what type of ticket you buy. It’s a flat rate set for each destination.

It’s not much money for the extras you get, including access to certain airport lounges, complimentary cocktails, a larger seat, more leg room, priority boarding and even a meal on flights to destinations such as Miami. Go on; treat yourself this summer!  Caymanairways.com
