2015 Breast Cancer Gala

A glittering event for a great cause

The 2015 Breast Cancer Gala will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3 at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

This much-anticipated event arguably marks the official start of the gala season in the Cayman Islands, and what a start it is! With top class entertainment, an exciting live auction, and superb décor, it’s no wonder that this has always been a sold-out night well in advance.

The ballroom at The Ritz-Carlton is always transformed, year after year, with pink as the dominant color throughout. Those seated at tables include supporters of the cause, those battling breast cancer and breast cancer survivors, as well as their friends and family.

Although the subject is a serious one, the evening balances the importance of raising much-needed funds with many lighthearted moments. It is a night of celebration and hope.

Along with an excellent live auction that always has paddles flying up into the air, there is always a well-known keynote speaker and musical entertainment.

On stage

This year, following previous guests Bill and Giuliana Rancic and Hoda Kotb, is Joan Lunden.

Joan Lunden is an award-winning journalist, bestselling author, motivational speaker and successful entrepreneur; she is also one of America’s most recognized and trusted television personalities.

As host of Good Morning America for nearly two decades, Lunden brought insight to top issues for millions of Americans each day. The longest running host ever on early morning television, Lunden reported from 26 countries, covered four presidents and five Olympics, and kept Americans up to date on how to care for their homes, their families and themselves.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, Joan says, “I have decided to talk about my breast cancer because since the moment I took the job at Good Morning America I have lived my life sharing my joys and my disappointments with all of you: my pregnancies, my relationships, my career … I have shared my journey. So it certainly didn’t feel right keeping this part of my journey a secret.”

As far as musical entertainment is concerned, guests are in for a real treat as they sit back and bask in the talents of ‘Figaro’ – a group of singers out of New York that has been closely compared with ‘Il Divo’ – the world-famous four-piece vocal group formed by Simon Cowell in the UK.
It’s certainly going to be a night to remember!
