 Concert for Cayman

 Hospice Care: Voices for Hospices ‘An Evening on Broadway’
Every two years, hospices around the world unite to celebrate “Voices for Hospices.” In recognition of this, Cayman HospiceCare will join together with hospices in more than 150 countries to create the world’s largest simultaneous musical event.

When ‘n’ where:  

  • Friday, Oct. 9, 6:30 p.m. champagne reception followed by 7:30 p.m. show and Saturday, Oct. 10, 6.45 p.m. show; Prospect Playhouse at 6:45 p.m.
  • Dress code: Smart casual

Young Caymanian Leadership Awards (YCLA)
The YCLA Foundation has been recognizing the contributions of outstanding young leaders for the past 15 years. This year, a record number of nominations were received.  With the event’s keynote speaker to be announced, be in on the excitement as anticipation mounts and one of the five finalists (Robbie Cribb Jr, Rebekah Jefferson, Kellie McGee, Taylor Burrowes and Stephen Watler) is named as the 2015 YCLA recipient. During the event, guests will be served a four-course meal followed by dancing and celebrations, as the evening wraps up the winner of the YCLA is announced.

Feed Our Future Island Roast 

Come hungry and ready to dance at the Feed our Future’s (FoF) fifth annual night of food, grooving and music by the sea. FoF is a non-profit company that aims to reduce child hunger and improve health and educational development through the funding of nutritional school meals. In the last school year it helped more than 300 children get daily access to school meals. FoF also offers healthy low cost cooking and shopping smart workshops for the families in need.

Dress code: Island casual, shoes optional.

Jamaica Observer: Table Talk Food Awards Cayman 

This year’s hosting of Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards in Cayman is in recognition of the Cayman Islands’ growing reputation as a culinary destination. Only the second Caribbean country to host the awards outside Jamaica, the evening at Pedro Castle will include award presentations, the recognition of key figures in the local culinary industry and a chance for attendees to sample signature dishes and cocktails under the stars at one of Cayman’s most historic locations.

  • Friday, Oct. 16; 6:30 to 10 p.m.; Pedro St. James.
  • Dress code: Elegantly casual.
  • Tickets: $100 a head, available from Pedro St. James and Peppers Restaurant with part of the proceeds of the ticket sales going to the Feed our Future Cayman organization.

Hedge Funds Care Cayman: 11th Annual Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit ‘Midnight in Paris’ 

Hedge Funds Care’s twin mission is to raise money to fund child welfare locally programs that prevent and treat child abuse through education, intervention, research, advocacy and training; and to showcase the philanthropy of the hedge fund and finance industries. Monies raised by HFC are distributed locally to community-based non-profit organizations that address child abuse in measurable and proactive ways.

This year’s gala begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a live auction and dinner at 7 p.m.

  • Saturday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.; The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
  • Dress code: Black tie or “Parisian Chic” for which the suggested attire is flapper-style dresses and feather accessories, or slim-fitting suits or waistcoats, cravat or beret.

National Gallery Gala:
‘The Night Circus’
Enjoy a fun-filled night at ‘The Night Circus’ – a black tie event in the grounds of the gallery, with cocktails, sit-down meal, bar and a disco.

Funds raised from the gala will go to supporting the gallery’s education department and ongoing programs including Family Fun Mornings – a free Saturday art session to promote family togetherness and allow creative time for families; and class scholarships for students of all ages.

Central Caribbean Marine Institute: 10th Annual Festival of Seas – ‘Blue Gala’

Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) is Cayman’s only non-profit, non-governmental organization, dedicated to protecting the Cayman Islands’ coral reefs and the life they support.
The fundraising Blue Gala will feature a live and silent auction, three-course dinner with a vegetarian option. Celebrate our seas while supporting CCMI’s research, conservation and education programs. Out of the Kitchen and Ark of Taste

Cheer on the recipients of the Chef of the Year and Bartender of the Year and congratulate the winner of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at this food lovers’ gala. With the formalities over, attendees can also look forward to a live auction and a succession of flavor-filled dishes prepared by a host of chefs from participating restaurants and eateries including: The Ritz-Carlton, Icoa, The Brasserie, Cilantro Grill, The Marriott, The Westin, Smokin Bros, Luca, Deckers, Karoo and Abacus.
