Anchor & Den: The hottest place for cold brews

Ever since the Grand Cayman Marriott was renovated, people have been heading to the place in droves.

They marvel at the stingrays making their way across the lobby wall; the bleached wood furnishings; and a sophisticated atmosphere with a healthy spoonful of spice thrown in, particularly on the weekends.

Anchor & Den, the open ground floor restaurant and bar, has become a very hip hangout for those who appreciate delectable and different cuisine, washed down with a cold beverage. Its beachy feel certainly makes it the perfect place to enjoy one of the many beers from the Cayman Islands Brewery.

The bar offers one of the largest selections of the brewery’s draft products on the island. No matter what your poison, you’ll find it on tap at Anchor & Den.

There are four staple products: Caybrew, Caybrew Premium Light, White Tip and Ironshore Bock. Ordinarily, these would be enough to quench the thirst of any beer drinker. They range in color from pale to dark, taking us from the golden Caybrew, Caybrew Premium Light and White Tip (where five cents of every sale goes to marine conservation efforts) to the reddish amber hue of Ironshore Bock.

Anchor & Den has all four on draft, but also goes one step further, adding Twisted Citrus and Pirates Gold Lager to the mix.

Twisted Citrus is a craft beer with a definite air of citrus fruit about it. Hence the name, of course. It’s a refreshing choice for visitors and residents, particularly when it’s hot outdoors.

Pirates Gold Lager is a limited edition brew that used to only appear around Pirates Week time. It would stick around for a couple of months and then vanish to Davy Jones’ Locker.

Who knows how long it will be available this time, so if you haven’t tried it before, now’s your chance. You can’t beat the flavor when it’s fresh from the local brewery and on tap.

Even if you’re not in the mood for a full dinner, you can order some tapas or snacks from the Anchor & Den menu to complement your beer tasting experience.

Come for the beer and food, and stay for the atmosphere. Anchor & Den has got it all.
