Rackam’s bar has been around for some time for a reason – people simply love the place. It’s been upgraded over time with the addition of a lounge at the tip of the property, and the same welcoming, casual atmosphere is in clear evidence.
You’ll often find office workers rubbing shoulders with dive instructors at the bar, dissecting the day, while those lingering for lunch and dinner take a seat at one of the many tables running the length of the dock that it neighbors. This design means there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
The lounge, known as CBLU, is a great choice for private or office parties, and it gets the full benefit of the sea breezes that waft in every day. Capable of accommodating up to 50 people inside (and 100 people when including the adjacent outdoor patio), it features comfy chairs and couches along with speakers hooked up to an iPod dock for your convenience.
Rackam’s has embraced the environment with both hands, which isn’t surprising, considering its surroundings. When the Cayman Islands Brewery announced its program to recycle bottles, Rackam’s was immediately on board. The bar stocks Caybrew, Caybrew Premium Light, White Tip and Ironshore Bock and recycles the bottles for all.
“White Tip and Caybrew are our biggest sellers to cruise ship passengers,” says Julie Allen, manager of Rackam’s. “We always tell them about the recycling [initiative] and have four stations with crates throughout the property. All bottles used go back to the brewery.”
The menu definitely leans towards the seafood side of things, but those who prefer landlubber fare need not worry – there are choices for all. Those curry cheese fries have got to be a fantastic choice on a rough day.
Head to Rackam’s any day of the week and you’ll be greeted like family. Join the recycling movement and order a Caybrew!
