One of the most enduring and well-loved musicals of all time – Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” – will make its debut at Cayman’s Prospect Playhouse Theatre this April.

The production team at the Cayman Drama Society (CDS) was keen to provide the local audience with the opportunity to participate in this magical musical.

An Old Testament tale, “Joseph” retells the Biblical story of Joseph, Israel’s favorite son, and his coat of many colors. The musical is full of unforgettable songs and comes to vibrant life with songs including “Those Canaan Days,” “Any Dream Will Do,” and “Close Every Door To Me.”

Cast and crew

The lead is being taken by Jardel MacIntosh, a native Australian originally from the Gold Coast who has lived and worked in Cayman for the last four years.

He will be supported by two narrators: Jennifer La Forge and Wendy Moore.

In the story, news of Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams reaches the Pharaoh who Dominic Wheaton wryly and riotously depicts as Elvis.

The additional cast features two father/son teams: Marc and Charlie Thomas and Mike and Oliver Bishop.

The CDS version of “Joseph” is directed by Juliet Fenn, making her debut in that particular role. She is joined by Sophie Gough, co-director and choreographer of the show, with Arek Johnson as musical director.

Completing the “Any-Dream-Will-Do Team” are Beverly and Andrew Edgington in their first roles as producers; Agata Kalicki as stage manager; and Mel Hydes running front-of-house. Charity Epp, the show’s costume designer, has done an extraordinary job with Joseph’s coat!

Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat opens on April 7 for three weekends.

Thurs, Fri, Sat: Show starts at 7:30 p.m.
Sun: Show is a 5 p.m. matinee
