The public was first introduced to two colorful characters on the Prospect Playhouse Theatre stage in 2014 who, along with a large cast, brought the Playhouse Family Christmas to life. Grizz the cat, played by Gabrielle Wheaton, and Frizz the mouse, played by Sue Howe, are once again asking families to join them for an evening of Christmas cheer. They are joined by reindeer, elves and even Santa himself as they make their way through a soundtrack of familiar seasonal carols.
Last year, we welcomed back Grizz and Frizz and the setting was Christmas Eve, just as it had been the year before. This time, there were penguins in evidence and a touch of Jack Frost!
What magical surprises await them and you in 2016? Ah, well that’s what you’ll have to discover when you attend the show. Expect to see the familiar elves and reindeer, along with some new characters and surroundings sure to delight young and old.
There will no doubt be lots of carols, as there were before, and hopefully Jolly Old Saint Nick will make an appearance at some point.
Sue Howe is pulling triple duty again as the writer and director of the show and playing the part of Frizz. Although it’s clearly a lot of work, she really enjoys it and is looking forward to opening night.
“The Frizz and Grizz characters that I created are back to bring some Christmas cheer to the Cayman community,” she said. “We’ve had such a great response to our show for the past two years and we hope that people will come out again this year to enjoy this hour of happiness with us.
“We know this production will delight you and put you in the Christmas spirit.”
Bring the kids
Not all the wonderful sights at the show are restricted to the stage. The expressions on the faces of the children in the audience are priceless, particularly when Santa makes an appearance. They always sing along enthusiastically when the elves invite everyone to join in, but Santa is always the icing on the cake.
