The Cayman National Cultural Foundation’s much anticipated annual signature event, GIMISTORY, is set to be even bigger and better than ever. Launching the event this year will be a fundraiser: The Tradewinds Cayman Reunion Concert on Nov. 26 at Tiki Beach, along with other entertainment, including Lammie and DJ Super C.

This will likely be the last Cayman performance with Dave Martins and the Tradewinds, so it’s not to be missed! Concert and dinner and dancing packages are on offer at special advance prices, and funds raised will help to keep the weeklong district storytelling events free of charge for the public.

GIMISTORY, now in its 18th year, celebrates the art of storytelling which is as old as mankind and is considered to be one of the most ancient arts. These stories won’t put you to sleep; they are told by professional storytellers who travel the world telling tales that celebrate their heritage; explore myths and legends; and provide laughter, drama and wonderment.

The festival boasts 2,500 attendees annually and visits each of Grand Cayman’s districts, plus Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.  It’s held at picturesque venues on beaches under the sea grape trees, or at a park or open field under the moonlight. Local and overseas storytellers from the Bahamas, Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad and North America take to the stage and tell a tall tale or two while the crackle of wood burning hints at the hot, delicious fried fish and fritters available after the stories.

GIMISTORY is set to conclude this year with “Duppy Story Night” which is not for the fainthearted, as the stories will send shivers down your spine in the cool Christmas breeze.
