Charity galas are scheduled for almost every weekend this month, usually occurring on a Friday or Saturday night. Folk dress up in their finery and head to various hotel ballrooms for an evening of entertainment and fundraising.
There are two charities using a different approach this November. The Cayman Heart Fund is hosting a luncheon at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort, and men preparing to grow some facial hair know that Movember is officially here.
Heart Heroes Award Luncheon
In an effort to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease and honor survivors in the Cayman Islands, the Cayman Heart Fund is eschewing the idea of a night event in favor of a Friday lunch.
On Nov. 18 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., guests are invited to take a seat in the Marriott ballroom to share the stories of some amazing journeys, socialize with friends and colleagues, and pledge support to a very worthy organization.
At a time when fundraisers are easily commanding over $100 and sometimes $200 a ticket, this is a nicely priced event.
Tickets are $50, or $500 for a table of 10.
Please call 916-6324 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to buy tickets.
What began as a fun, crazy way of recognizing health issues that affect men, has become a worldwide phenomenon. In a nutshell, men agree to grow out their moustaches and be sponsored by others, in order to raise money for research, testing and treatments.
The Cayman chapter of Movember has raised an extraordinary amount of money since its inception, and the number of participants grows every year.
As the website says, “We, at MO-Cayman never leave a MO-Bro to grow it alone, or as we say, ‘the MO, the merrier!’”
