The Poinciana Arts Festival is returning, scheduled from March 7-12 and promising artistic and cultural events for all.
Exhibitions and screenings will be held at different venues around the island. Here is the schedule, which is subject to change but was correct at press time.
A cocktail reception will be held at Arts Nest in Pasadora Place from 5:30-7:30 p.m., where the Poinciana Art Nominations will be on display. This gives guests a chance to see firsthand the extraordinary talent of the Cayman Islands’ artists. Over 40 works of local art were submitted to the festival.
There will be four days of local and international films screened at Regal Cinema in Camana Bay. During this time period, Regal Cinemas will also host Poinciana panel discussions with a selection of local filmmakers, musicians and artists. The Film Festival tickets are $10 and grant unlimited access to the films and panels across the four days.
The festival will culminate with the Poinciana Awards Ceremony at the Harquail Theatre. The best works of Poinciana 2017 will be awarded on this night. Tickets are $50.
Poinciana 2017 will also be showcasing the works of Cayman’s students. Over 30 works of art were submitted by children between the ages of 13 – 17 from various schools. The Poinciana Awards ceremony will also acknowledge the best of the student art work.
