Regal Cinemas’ new VIP Auditorium theater opened last month, offering incredibly comfortable recliner seats, a state-of-the-art surround-sound system and an ultra-high resolution screen.
Comfy recliner chairs
With just eight rows of seats, the cinema is spacious, so much so that even with your feet stretched out in front on you on the recliner seat, there’s still plenty of room for people to pass by. You do not have to worry about your popcorn or super-sized Coke ending up on your lap as latecomers squeeze past you to get to their seats.
A few words of warning though – do not go to the plush new VIP theater if you are tired. These recliner chairs, while perfect for sinking into to watch a great movie, are so cozy that it’s easy to snooze in them.
Happily, though, the high-tech Dolby Atmos surround-sound system that delivers pitch-perfect audio from speakers in front of the screen, on the walls beside and behind you, and the ceiling above you, should wake you up.
The 56-seat VIP Auditorium is inside the cinema in Camana Bay. One of the screens, at the back right-hand side, has been transformed into the new theater.
Each seat has its own swivel table attached – perfect to place your pizza, popcorn or drink, so you will not have to worry about bumping elbows with the person next to you.
And then there’s the screen itself – super crisp and clear, thanks to the 4K resolution projector.
Movie and a pizza
The expanded concession stand now has home-baked, thin-crust pizzas on the menu, so it could be said that patrons can now genuinely enjoy dinner-and-a-movie all in one place.
Prices range from $9.95 to $11.95 per pizza.
The VIP Auditorium will have four screenings per day, including two in the evening.
The theater operators said that children under age 12 will not be allowed in the VIP Auditorium for R-rated films (any child under the age of 17 is normally allowed to view R-rated films if accompanied by an adult). But, for other films, like PG-rated films, children under 12 will be admitted.
The VIP theater will be available for private movie showings and corporate functions and also has a reserved seating function, which enables customers to choose their preferred seat.
Tickets for the new cinema are $10 higher than the usual entry price.
