Have you noticed the new kid in town at the Strand? Open since Dec. 15, 2017, Kuboh is a bar serving Pan-Asian cuisine in a richly colored room of reds and yellows with Buddha statues and hookah pipes in residence.

The menu is a mixture of the familiar and different, with ramen noodle soups, steam buns and tempura items to be found. There are also kebobs of pork belly, shrimp and asparagus-wrapped bacon perfect for sharing. What you may not want to share – and keep completely to yourself instead – is your selection of dim sum bites. Kuboh is fast becoming known for its fresh, handmade dim sum which you can snack upon while enjoying a cold glass of Cayman Islands Brewery beer.

Kuboh offers Caybrew and Caybrew Premium Light on tap – beers that are a great match for both Caribbean and international food. They go down easy and aren’t filling, which saves room for more food!

Another advantage to draft beer? No empties to go on the landfill. Of course, if Kuboh did serve the bottled versions of Cayman Islands Brewery beer, they could simply take advantage of the brewery’s reuse-and-recycle program that sterilizes and reuses empty bottles.

On any given evening (Kuboh is open from 5 p.m. until close, seven days a week) you can come in for a meal, have a few beers and then give the hookah pipe a go. This is what they did before vaping became a thing. Try flavors like winterfresh, candy, cheery, blueberry and blue mist. DJ Glenroy also spins the hits on Wednesdays with DVJ Carter and Pressplay Deejays on Fridays and karaoke on Saturdays from 8 p.m. until close.
