PINK (it’s not about fashion)

October will see the return of Cayman’s most popular pink tie event. The annual Breast Cancer Gala Dinner will take place at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman on 15 October, and according to the organisers it will once again be a not-to-be-missed evening.

Since its inception as a once-off in 2008, the event has grown in stature and success.

“Last year’s Breast Cancer Gala Dinner was a tremendous success, raising over CI$ 100,000 for local breast cancer patients and projects” said James Bovell, director of the Breast Cancer Foundation, the organiser of the event.

“We are hoping to raise even more funds this year, which will enable us to help even more patients and to continue our support of breast cancer awareness and education,” added Kim Lund, also a director.

As in previous editions of the event, the evening will include entertainment, a guest speaker as well as silent and live auctions, with all proceeds benefitting breast cancer education and treatment in Cayman.

According to the organisers, NBC Today Show host Hoda Kotb will be in attendance once again, although she will not be the guest speaker this time around.

“We are very grateful for the outpouring of support, from the community as a whole, for the Breast Cancer Gala Dinner. Each year, this event transcends the year before and we are able to raise more and more funds to help our local survivors and find a cure for this disease.

The event now has celebrity appeal, as Hoda Kotb is our patron, and this year we have some very exciting entertainment and presenters arranged. It is an event that is not to be missed and sells out, every year. Plan to commit early and enjoy an exciting night for a worthy cause on October 15th,” says Kim.

The organisers promise that the evening’s entertainment will not soon be forgotten, although they are keen to keep it a surprise. The evening is set to conclude with an after party at the Silver Palm Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton.

Tickets are CI$ 185 per person and CI$ 1,850 per table of 10, and include a three course meal plus wine at the Ritz, a champagne reception, live entertainment and a live and silent auction. The event will kick off with a champagne reception at 6pm, with the doors to the ballroom opening at 7pm.

“We encourage everyone to save the date for the 2011 Breast Cancer Gala Dinner. We have many surprises in store and some thrilling entertainment lined up. This will definitely be the ‘must attend’ event of the year!” adds Janet Jarchow, one of the event organisers. WH
