Can you beat The Chaser?

There are two races scheduled for two consecutive weekends in January 2014: The PAWS 2 Mile Chase on Saturday, Jan. 4; and the PAWS 5k Chase on Saturday, Jan. 11. If you’ve decided, as many will, that your New Year’s resolutions will include getting fitter, this could be an excellent way to jumpstart your program.

PAWS 2 Mile Chase

This will start and finish at the North Sound Golf Club in George Town at a brisk 7 a.m. and follows a course around the golf course over two miles.

PAWS 5k Chase

The 5k Run starts and finishes at The Lighthouse Restaurant in Breakers, again, early in the morning on the Sunday, so get some rest the night before.

Dogs and children can take part in both races, and all profits go to PAWS (Protection of Animal Welfare in the Eastern districts). There will be continental breakfast included after the race, and participation only costs $20 for adults and is free for under-12s.

Spot prizes, random prizes and a “Beat the Chaser” prize are up for grabs.

Beat the Chaser

Both races will feature a chaser – a runner who starts 7 minutes behind all the runners. If you finish the race before he overtakes you, you will be entered in a separate raffle to win the ultimate prize. Can you beat the chaser?

You can register early by emailing

[email protected] and on-day registration opens at 6.15 a.m. at the start.

There is more information on or on the races’ facebook page: PAWS 2 Mile Chase.
