Father’s Day: Spend time with dear old Dad

Mother’s Day was in May, and now June has rolled around, it’s time to focus on pater. Father’s Day falls on June 21 this year, so start thinking of ways you can show your dad how much you appreciate him.

There are gifts you can buy him, or experiences you can give him. After all, an amazing day out offers memories that will last long after the day is done.  Here are some of the suggestions we can offer:

  1. Brunch
Sure, you may think this is a cliché, or something people do when they can’t think of anything else, but brunch at one of the many restaurants that offer it, is always a treat.     All-inclusive buffet-style is the most popular, yet a few places have gone the a la carte route, and Blue Cilantro on a Sunday is the best of both worlds. This restaurant has a one price, all-in menu, including unlimited bubbles, served to you at your table.

The unlimited bubbles is the key at all of these brunches. If everyone in your family enjoys a tipple in the afternoon, this will keep the bill affordable.

  2. Fishing
A day on the seas, casting out some lines and hoping for a bite, can be simply idyllic when in the Cayman Islands. Our suggestion? Don’t take out your own boat (if you own one); charter a fishing boat that will take care of all your needs, so you can kick back and relax with a cold beer and a sandwich.

Some people like the messy, and if you’re one such person, then have at it; but it’s hard to argue with the convenience of all the tackle being set up for you; you bring in the fish; then they do all the cleaning.

  3. A weekend away
Why not go exploring off the rock? You can easily get to Cayman Brac, Little Cayman, Miami, Jamaica, Cuba and Honduras on Cayman Airways, with very little flying time cutting into your mini-vacation. Give Dad a trip he’ll never forget, allowing him to visit places he’s never seen before.

It’s quite extraordinary how accessible these islands and countries are, and how much fun you’ll have discovering them.

  4. Man Cave
You may be thinking of a man cave as a room in the house, but Man Cave is actually a male sanctuary on the second floor of Caribbean Plaza, West Bay Road. This fantastic spa offers everything from facials to straight razor shaves, and a retail section with gift sets perfect for the woman who doesn’t know what to buy for the man in her life.

Gift certificates are available for purchase, and may be just what dad needs. After all, being a father can be exhausting sometimes.
