Quiz nights offer a great social vibe, in addition to being a great way to get your thinking cap on and learn a few new brain teasing facts.
Two of the most popular quiz nights are held by local animal rescue organizations: the Cayman Islands Humane Society; and Cayman Animal Rescue Enthusiasts, commonly known as CARE.
Each organization holds the quizzes monthly. The Cayman Islands Humane Society quiz is held on the third Thursday of every month at Fidel Murphy’s, while CARE hosts its monthly quiz night on the first Wednesday of every month at PD’s in Galleria Plaza.
Both quizzes feature a selection of knowledge-testing rounds, including music, history, literature, and popular culture.
The popular quiz night at Fidel’s kicks off at 7 p.m. and often sees the West Bay Road pub filled to capacity.
Teams of up to six are permitted, with prizes for the winning team.
Fidel Murphy’s offers a fantastic menu of great pub classics to chow down on while you put your brain to work, from bangers and mash, to fish and chips, cottage pie, and lamb vindaloo.
The Humane Society typically raises around $800 to $1,000 each quiz night. Funds are used to help with the transfer of dogs to New York and Florida shelters, as well as to help meet the costs of the day-to-day running of the shelter.
The monthly pub quiz at PD’s, which also kicks off at 7 p.m., helps CARE with its free community spay and neuter program, as well as its community animal welfare programs.
CARE’s quiz night is a popular draw too, and follows the same format as the Humane Society, with teams of up to six permitted.
Just like Fidel’s, PD’s offers a hearty menu of pub favorites, including a selection of pastas, burgers, sandwiches and wraps, as well as more hearty dishes such as lasagna, BBQ ribs, and the pub’s signature meatloaf.
Both quizzes are priced at just $10 per head.
