New on the scene

July is typically the month when events tend to wind down a bit. The summer is here, people take vacations, and a more relaxing vibe permeates the air.

That being said, there are still evening activities to enjoy and if you don’t feel like going out, you can start preparing for the penultimate season of “Game of Thrones.” Yes, it’s finally here.

ReMixology @ The Kimpton

The Kimpton has just upped its game and redefined Friday nights with a new twist on the classic happy hour.

Starting later in the evening in Avecita Bar, this is the perfect place to move on to and start your weekend in style.

Kicking off from 9 p.m. until late, a DJ will be on the decks, spinning you straight into the wee hours. With craft cocktails for $8, it is a game changer on the Cayman social scene.

Icoa Magic Hat Wine Tasting

This new monthly event is an interesting one indeed. The concept is that all attendees put their name into a hat and four names are picked out. These four attendees will then be asked to pick a wine up to the value of $65.00 for the whole group to try. There will be a wine expert on hand on the night to give a quick introduction on tasting wine and further explanation of the wines chosen. This could be the chance to taste that red you’ve been dying to try for ages.

Fridays @ Hemingways

The recently reopened Hemingways beach bar has become the trendy Friday evening spot along Seven Mile. A welcome change from the usual indoor locations, this beach club brings the Ibiza vibe with chilled out dance tunes from the resident DJ and the buzz of a busy bar. With an extensive wine list and drinks menu, they have everything covered in the beverage department. They also offer both a beach menu of small bites and snacks, and an al a carte menu if you care for something a bit more substantial.

Time to return to Westeros

Will Sansa double-cross Jon Snow? Can Daenerys’ dragons defeat the White King? How long will Cersei remain queen and continue killing off, well, just about everyone in Westeros? These are just a few of the burning questions “Game of Thrones” fans are desperately awaiting answers to in Season 7. Thankfully, television’s most epic series returns our screens on July 16, and now winter has most definitely come to Westeros. Tune into HBO for more backstabbing, brutality and glorious escapism.
