Yes, it is almost The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, and for practical purposes, a number of holiday events are scheduled in November to give people the time to shop and prepare for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Camana Bay has a quite a lot in store this month, with markets, a tree lighting, entertainment and the Parade of Lights, hosted by Cayman 27 on Dec. 1.
All of these appeal to kids and adults, so mark your calendar for family-friendly events aplenty.
Nov. 14-Dec. 19 (except Dec. 5)
Every Wednesday, the Farmers & Artisan Market will be infused with Christmas cheer. Start your shopping early for homemade gifts and goodies created by local artists. The market runs from noon-7 p.m. on the Paseo.
Annual Tree Lighting
It’s the start of the holiday season and Camana Bay will transform into a sparkling wonderland with holiday tunes, inspiring performances, an appearance by Santa and the lighting of its majestic Christmas tree, starting at 6 p.m. Come out early for a holiday-themed craft market from 4 p.m. Stay for the after-party and dance the night away with music under the stars from 8-10 p.m.
Pink Ladies Christmas Bazaar
The Pink Ladies Christmas Bazaar is one of the highlights of the local festive season. Held at the Arts & Recreation Centre from 2-5 p.m., it features a delicious homemade tea at a very reasonable price, handmade crafts, a white elephant sale, silent auction and live entertainment.
Parade of Lights
Cayman 27 is again hosting its annual Parade of Lights boat parade on Dec. 1 in Camana Bay. Private and corporate boats are encouraged to enter and it is free to participate in two categories: boats under 30 feet and boats over 30 feet. Two lucky winners of the best decorated boat will take home the prize of $1,000 and two Thatch Passes to KAABOO.
This year’s theme, Christmas Around the World, opens up a great deal of options for people to decorate their boats.
New to the event this year is the Christmas Market, which will feature businesses showcasing and selling their products and services.
There will be a firework display at the end of the competition.
