Updates from around the Cayman Islands
Cayman mouse pads
Choose a Cayman-themed mouse pad to sit alongside your computer. The designs, customized for each district, feature words such as “West Bayah,” with a “definition,” or iconic local photos snapped by a student. Developed and designed by a Junior Achievement company, the mouse pads sell for $7 each, or at a discount for bulk orders. Select from nine different words or five different photos.
Shop at the farmers-only Local Harvest Market at Camana Bay (formerly the Farmers & Artisans Market on the Paseo), which is now in Heliconia Court across from Petit Paris patisserie. Open Wednesdays year-round from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., it features fresh seasonal items, including Swiss and rainbow chard, tomatoes, callaloo, sweetsop and breadfruit. Ask for a taste and try before you buy.
Bracker’s new book
Cayman Brac native Joshua J. Dilbert, 23, has a new book with a strange twist. “Sarma” tells the story of an Alzheimer’s patient who turns into a reptilian-like creature and ultimately experiences a post-apocalyptic event. Two years ago, Dilbert published a young readers’ book, “The Mordenham Acres,” under the pen name Brad Tarlem. Find “Sarma” on Amazon and perhaps soon in local bookstores.
