The millennial lexicon

If you are hearing terms completely unfamiliar to you, interspersed with recognisable English, odds are good those terms are from the millennial lexicon. That is, slang or popular terms created by the younger generation of our time.

HERE ARE JUST A FEW TO HELP YOU NAVIGATE WHATSAPP CONVERSATIONS AND EMOJIS.

‘Sipping the tea’ – ‘Sipping the tea’ means pretending not to notice when something crazy is going down nearby.

‘Spilling the tea’ means sharing gossip.

‘Salty’ – When someone is salty, they are in a bad mood.

‘Bae’ – This is the person you love ‘before anyone else’…or it could be a shortened form of ‘babe’. Either way, it means lurve.

‘Bounce’ – When you need to leave somewhere quickly or suddenly, as in “I gotta bounce”.

‘Quiche’ – An oldie but a goodie. Believe it or not, it means someone who is really hot. E.g. “Wow, Brad is so quiche!”
