It seems only fitting to mention a drink with this name, considering the season we are in.

The Dark ‘n’ Stormy is the unofficial beverage of Bermuda and was supposedly so titled by an old sailor who  compared the cocktail’s murky depths to the colour of storm clouds; or maybe he was referring to his hangover the next day. Regardless, this simple yet delicious drink has been embraced by Bermudians and now patrons of bars the world over.

To enjoy it in its purest form, use only Gosling’s Black Seal rum. In fact, it is only legally allowed to be called a Dark ‘n’ Stormy if you use Gosling’s, as the company has trademarked the name.

RECIPE

  • 2 ounces Gosling’s rum
  • 4-5 ounces ginger beer
  • Lime

Fill a Collins glass with cubed ice, add rum and ginger beer, stir and garnish with lime wedge or wheel. Enjoy!
